Transfer a working operation
Inventory systems, vendors, data, suppression, templates, recordings and custom workflows. State who owns each asset, who administers it and how it is exported or replaced. Keep sensitive information access-appropriate and follow the agreed retention arrangements.
For active opportunities, preserve buyer evidence, committee roles, agreed actions and unresolved risks. Name the successor and communicate ownership changes appropriately. For recurring tasks, include a practical demonstration and recovery scenario. Resolve gaps while the agency can still support the transition.
| Decision | Evidence to use | What changes next |
|---|---|---|
| Systems and data | Internal admin, tested exports and field meanings | Client can access and interpret the operating record |
| Active selling | Next actions, buyer context and successor owner | Conversations continue without restarting discovery |
| Capability | Playbooks, normal tasks and recovery demonstrations | Internal team can operate independently |
Work through the decision
Illustrative transfer: the client administrator exports a small cohort and checks suppression. The successor AE reviews a live evaluation, identifies the missing approval role and drafts the next buyer action. A new SDR applies the ICP to an unfamiliar account.
Record what each person can do and what still needs coaching. If a proprietary agency service remains necessary, disclose it and document its continuation or replacement. Remove agency access only after continuity is established, not merely because the calendar reached the end date.
Active deals lose their commercial history
A contact list without committee concerns and agreed next steps forces the successor to restart. Include concise decision context and appropriate source or conversation links. Buyer trust depends on continuity as well as technical access.
A concrete next step
Use the ownership inventory in the guide before the final month. Schedule demonstrations for the client administrator, seller and development owner, with time to repair gaps.
